Friday Fika, A Simple Fika, Breaking Bread

breaking bread baking simple fika

“Men can starve from a lack of self-realization as much as they can from a lack of bread.”

After a long week…the weekend is here. And with it, we break bread together. We chat about little things. We discuss the weather. The taste of the bread. Flour. Water. Salt. Yeast. The simplicity in the moment makes my heart sore with longing…

Longing. For what? You ask. For more moments like this. For time away from the worries of the world. For chatter amongst friends and kisses amongst family. For the easiness of an afternoon gathered around the table, breaking bread together. ..

A humble, honest moment. The simplest Fika. Yet the best.

You see, when you choose simplicity over complication…when you choose a humble loaf of bread over a decadently decorated cake…everything that aims to cover up, to numb or to distract…simply crumbles away…

Leaving beneath it the real, raw moments. Giving us eyes to see what matters. Letting the ‘togetherness’ of Fika truly take the stage.

It is these things that I think of as I bite into a warm slice of bread…

You took the words right out of my mouth. Thought about blogging about this next week. It’s so funny, if not tragic how we complicate, better, over complicate things. I’ve also found that real, raw moments hide beneath the layers of complexity. I’m learning everyday that’s simple is best. So glad to find you in IG. Hope to be in touch soon ❤️
